General Postoperative Care Guidelines

Most often at the conclusion of the surgery there will be a dressing applied to help prevent outside contamination of the surgical incision.  The following day it is removed and another is reapplied by the family veterinarian and assessment will be done to determined when this second dressing / bandage is best removed and the incision is again assessed. Most often this is within 3-5 days. Should any slippage, moisture accumulation strike through of body fluids occur the pet should be brought back to the family veterinarian and the dressing removed and the incision / wound reassessed.

It is very important to follow home care instructions carefully to ensure that best chance of a complication free postoperative course. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call your primary care family  veterinarian or you may call Dr. Crowe as well at 706-296-7020.
